Excel/HTML is dropping leading zeros for Zip Codes

When a Contact List is exported to Excel/HTML, zip codes that start with leading zeros may appear to be truncated (01234 may appear as 1234). After exporting your Contact List, you can use the following steps to correct the formatting for Zip Codes.

  1. Locate the Zip Code column.
  2. Right click the letter at the top of the column. In the menu that appears, select Format Cells.
  3. Under the Number tab, select the Special category, and then select Zip Code. Click OK.
  4. Your zip codes will now appear with the correct leading zeros.
  5. Go to File | Save As and save your file as a standard Excel workbook.
