The horizontal bars that span the column width of your report separate the report into bands or sections. Each report contains at least three bands. The horizontal bar with the band’s name refers to the section just above it. Below are descriptions for the commonly used bands.
Page Header: Information contained within this band will print at the top of each page. This is similar to the top margin area of a document. In many column layout reports, the Page Header contains the column headings. Column headings in the page header will appear on each page of the report.
Title: Information contained within this band will print ONLY on the first page of the report. It can also be printed as a dedicated title page if specified.
Column Header: Information contained within this band will print at the top of a column. This band will only display if a report is set to print multiple columns on a page (for example, a list of Object ID numbers.) It would appear above the Detail Band (or if used, a Group Header Band).
Detail: Information within this band makes up the report’s body, and contains the output fields. This is the section where information from each record is displayed. Information within the detail band will make up the majority of your report.
Column Footer: Information in this band will print at the bottom of a column.
Page Footer: Information here will print at the bottom of each page. It is similar to the bottom margin area of a document and can contain information such as page numbers.
Group Header: Content in this area would print at the start of each new group. This band only appears when using Data Grouping. This section appears just above the Detail Band. For more information about Data Grouping, review our Knowledge Base article “How do I add Data Grouping to a Report Maker report?”
Group Footer: Contents in this area would print at the end of each new group. This band is typically used to help summarize or count items within a particular group. It appears just below the Detail Band.
Summary: Similar to the Title band’s function at the start of a report, information in the Summary band only prints once at the very end of the report and like the Title band can be printed on a separate page.
