Applies to: Web Edition
The first step of upgrading to PastPerfect Web Edition is to watch one of our free webinars to get an introduction to the new interface. During the webinar, one of our Web Edition specialists will walk you through a demo of the program so you can see what it looks like and how it works. We offer both live and on-demand webinars. Our live webinars have our Web Edition specialists on hand to answer questions. To register for a free webinar please go to https://museumsoftware.com/demo.html.
When you are ready to get started on the upgrade process, email the Web Edition team at webedition@museumsoftware.com. A specialist will set up a demo program for you and provide instructions for sending a data backup to begin the review of your data. This specialist will be your guide through the entire upgrade process. They will do a thorough review of your data and set up a consultation appointment with you and other PastPerfect stakeholders at your organization. During the consultation, they will discuss any issues that would prevent your data from upgrading successfully and answer any questions. They will also review the Web Edition hosting packages, which determine the number of user accounts and amount of storage provided.
After completing any required or recommended data cleanup, you will want to get back in touch with your Web Edition specialist. They will schedule a time for us to upload your PastPerfect data and images into a trial, so you can review your data in Web Edition before completing the upgrade. Most clients spend four to six weeks reviewing their data in Web Edition and becoming familiar with the new software. During this trial period, you can continue working in your PastPerfect desktop program.
Once you decide you are ready to do the final upgrade, we will schedule a time to get a final backup of your PastPerfect data and images and upload to your live software.
For most clients, moving from one of PastPerfect’s desktop programs to Web Edition takes a few months, although a lot depends on how much data cleanup you want to do and how long you want to review the trial.
